This is a very interesting feature that the Trust Subscription offers.

Let me explain to you with a scenario:-

Scenario: A merchant wants to offer customers a 3-month subscription upfront. After the 3 months are complete, the subscription should automatically convert to a monthly plan.

Solution: Using automation, create two plans.

  1. First Plan: Set up a 3-month plan with a max cycle of 1 (so it expires after one cycle).

  2. Second Plan: Create a monthly subscription plan set for unlimited cycles.

Once the 3-month plan expires, automation seamlessly transfers all active subscription contracts to the monthly plan.

Once everything is configured, You have to setup this automation.

Important

The maximum number of orders refers to the total number of subscription cycles allowed for a particular plan. In this context:

  • For the first plan (3-month subscription), setting the max cycle to 1 means the plan will expire after one complete cycle (i.e., after the customer completes one 3-month period). No further orders will be placed under this plan after that.

  • For the second plan (monthly subscription), the max cycle should be unlimited or the maximum allowed. This ensures that the subscription continues monthly without interruption or the need for manual renewal.

Once the first plan expires after 1 cycle, automation will automatically shift all active contracts to the monthly plan, ensuring a smooth transition without the customer having to re-subscribe.

In essence, setting the max cycle determines how long a customer stays on a specific plan before it expires or renews.
